The answer it's YES, you can buy a NEXTEL PHONE UNIT that has the Direct Talk feature available in the phone unit itself. You don't need NO PLANS from NEXTEL although you will a need a BLANK SIM to access the feature. Direct Talk only allows transmit ions up to 5 miles depending on many factors. If you want NATION or INTERNATIONAL coverage you need to sing up for a 25 DLLS a month Direct Talk Available for Businesses only, and not available for regular plans you would have to sign up for a 200 min Plan with DC. If you want INTERNATIONAL Access 10 Dlls+ it's REQUIRED. DO NOT GET BLACKBERRY 8350i, or anything FANCY mostly they don't have it, i335, i670 are prime examples for DIRECT TALK availabilityIs using the walkie talkie on Nextel phones free?

Walkie Talkie is included on most NEXTEL plans. You can confirm this by calling Sprint-Nextel or logging on to your account on their web site.
