Capable of shooting from an unlimited range, can pull up and fade back from mid-range at any moment, and can break through double teams to get to the cup at will. His defense is impeccable as he is one of the best defenders in the game. His leadership comes from over 10 years in the league. He wants to win more than anyone else in the world. And when the game is on the line, Kobe takes the game. MVP

im not a huge fan but michael jordan was incredible. the wizards jordan not so much but the bulls had the best player ever. 6 championships that wouldnt of happened without him.the MVP awards and all-star appereances.creating a great player in scottie pippen who is nothing without michael. the last second shots and shocking juke moves. no doubt he was the greatest

Best player to play basketball, has to be Michael Jordan. People you guys need to learn some basketball-know-how! jesus... Kobe hasn't even had the best career out of all the Lakers players. Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabaar, Wilt Chamberlain... the list goes on... Jerry West, James Worthy... all of these guys have made more impacts on the Lakers for championships! and those are what count!!! Michael led a Chicago team in an era where defense mattered WITHOUT a quality center for many years, MJ got Rodman after a looong time but it took them awhile I'll say! Michael Jordan won championships without a dominate center, Kobe had Shaq and he still stunk in his first three years... MJ averaged stats Kobe is finally achieving now when he was 23! So he was a better statistical player.. lets put it simple:
Stats: Michael Jordan wins... by a lot...
Heart: Has anyone ever heard how competitve Jordan is??! He once played a teammate in ping pong, he kept getting beaten by this player, he tried again and again and again, until he won. And another story from his college days was when his coach during a scrimmage saw that his team was dominating 9-1 in a first to 10 game he switched him over. Jordan was so angry, but he brought his team back and won. These are only small examples of his competitveness and heart.

Putting Scotte Pippen and Rodman on the Bulls was a great move by Krause, but they aren't enough to compare to Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamaar Odom, and Derek Fisher. Lets face it folks, Michael Jordan is still the king.
Edit: Scottie was SOMETHING without Jordan! He led the Bulls to a decent season.. Now I think of it he led them to similiar seasons Kobe has led the Lakers to when Shaq left... interesting thought...

Bill Russell has MORE heart/will to win than Michael Jordan because he was able to maintain his championship run far longer. Russ was champion 11 times in 12 finals appearance in 13 years. Back in college, he lead his no name school to a 55 game winning streak and back to back rings. Consistency and determination to win is russell's hallmark and not Jordan.
Championship: I suggest doing research next time. Russell's 11 %26gt;%26gt; Jordan's 6.
Awards: Half of the awards and stats in Jordan's time DONT EXIST during Russell's time. ESPY awards dont exist in the 60's. Finals MVP and DPoY were awarded only during his last season. Steals and blocks were not counted during Russell's time.
