I am a photographer and I have recently returned from Australia where the prices for things are generally outrageous compared to the prices here in the US. Most of my equipment bit the dust (as it does occasionally) so while I was over there I rented my kit, but now that I am home I need to reinvest. Considering I have never taken advantage of a warranty in my life, I think its time I consider the gray market. Problem is, I don't know any decent dealers. Anyone have any advice? I am wary of Ebay, so is there any dedicated online retailers that could sort me out?

Well if you want abuse, go to ebay for new products, the lower the price the more chance it is gray market and no warranty available.
I turned on my camera one day and half of the screen was gone. By what I have read here, the problem was the sensor, either the most expensive part of the camera or the second most expensive part behind the lens.
Yes, I agree with you in part. "extended warranties" are a waste of money in my opinion, but the normal warranty is worth an awful lot if something goes wrong.Whats the best gray importer for the US for Canon Photogear?
If you have not taken advantage of a warranty in your life, then you've been lucky. It's like a seat belt in your car, or your health insurance--something you don't "need" until you really need it.
If it's broken, by the way, Canon USA will not fix your camera, if it's a gray market--not even if you pay for it. If you're looking at this as an investment--it's not worth saving a few bucks.Whats the best gray importer for the US for Canon Photogear?
You may want to compare USA vs. imported equipment from these people.
