I coach a girls basketball team. A girl on the team is playing because her parents told her to. She talks back, rolls her eyes, won't try most of the time. She complains about her teammates constantly. I have made her run laps, don't let her start in the game, Have come down hard on her, have encouraged her, have talked to her parents. Nothing is working. I want to help her to become a team player. You can learn so much from team sports. Any help from any kids coaches out there? How to deal with difficult girl basketball player?
Note: i am not a coach i am actually a minor who competes in sports
Well the parents are the "enforcers" and this problem rests quite a bit on their shoulders. It seems she doesn't want any part of the team, so maybe she could be transferred to a sport she enjoys more?
She might even be a good competitor but if she isn't a willing part of the team they will most likely separate her from their group and being forced into this situation it might do more harm than good.
Perhaps ask her what she wishes to do instead?
it would also be good to understand more about why she acts the way she does by speaking to some of her teammates.
Just some ideas, and good luck to you.
have you seen gridiron gang? Do something like that. How to deal with difficult girl basketball player?
tell her you would pay for her try and success
.......and if it works use her parents money
If she dosen't like basketball then hope is lost, instead of her parents MAKING her play basketball the need to ask her if she would like to participate in another sport.I love basketball, but if somebody told me i had to play tennis I would be the same way as that girl. How to deal with difficult girl basketball player?
well u cant just force sombody to play basketball she has to want to, she has to have that desire %26amp; hunger to play ball if she doesnt have that then its hopeless
have you tryed challenging her somtimes thats all people need
somtimes coaches make practice boring I got mad at my coaches because all they want you to do is run suicides and learn plays not focusing on drippling, shooting, rebounding, passing, and DEFENSE!!!!!
try to watch magic johnsons fundamentals and put that in to your practice it really helps
DONT BE SO MEAN!BE GENTLE!
Why don't u make practice fun for her so she'll enjoy basketball and she'll play without rollin her eyes or w/e she did. And how could anyone not enjoy basketball its the BEST SPORT EVA!!!!!
