Hi I was just wanted to know how much cardio do high school and college basketball players do a week to prepare them for all their games. Things im most interested in knowing is how long the run is, how fast, what speed to start on and when to increase or decrease, how many days a week, and if there is an incline or not. Also i heard that you should lift weights for 15mins before you run because it starts the fat burning process or something is this true? Thanks for all the helpHow much cardio should a basketball player do?
alot, basketball is pretty much all cardio, you have to be in great shape to be able to run back and forth for 40 minutes. How much cardio should a basketball player do?
A fantastic workout that I do, and one that simulates the type of running used in games, is a staggered sprint. It goes like this:
Run 400 meters (about a quarter-mile) as fast as you can, timing yourself. Then stop and rest for the amount of time it took you do run the 400 meters. Do this again, timing yourself and resting for as long as it took you to run the last 400 meters. Repeat this until you have been running/resting for 20 minutes. How much cardio should a basketball player do?
Our coach had the team run 5 miles at least once a week, but we were encouraged to do it twice. It shouldn't take you more than 40 minutes when you're in shape. But long distance running isn't the going thing to work on. Since basketball involves a lot of speed, make sure you including casual sprints within your workouts. (I highly recommend running outside and not on a treadmill.)
You should lift weights regardless. It'll help tone your body. Good luck

What kind of things should I watch out for when hosting a basketball tournament?
I want to start a basketball tournament, and I just want to make sure I have everything covered...What kind of things should I watch out for when hosting a basketball tournament?
That all depends on the kind of tournament you are tryign to hold and what is the reason. If it's somethign for charity or just for fun, then I would suggest something like this:
1. Make sure you have plenty of water available and snacks.
2. Have teams call their own fouls-- you really don't need refs.
3. If it is a coed tournament, allow the team with the most girls the opportunity to choose if they use a girls or a guys ball.
4. Have a ball for each court, a couple of spares, and a pump handy.
5. Make sure you have an athletic trainer or nurse there with a stacked med kit.
6. Have some sort of timer with a clear buzzer for start and finish.
7. Have baskets for games cleary marked.
8. Have the schedule of play posted everywhere and given to each team.
9. Have volunteers/staff in bright color shirts in visible areas.
10. Have people in a central location with a bright colored shirt visible to the teams when the game is over and they need to report the result of the game.
11. Have a rule for a tie-- do both teams get a win or a loss? Do they play sudden death?
12. Have the sign in process organized-- if there are a lot of teams, have more than one sign in station.
13. Give out a cool tshirt-- try to make it a color, because that's even cooler.
14. What does the team get that wins?
15. What about the team that loses? It's always fun to give a prize to them too.
16. If an option- MUSIC!! Not so loud it is distracting, but enough for some background noise.
17. Have towels available to wipe up the floor when people fall.
18. Set a clear age limit-- if lots of different kinds consider age/gender brackets.
19. Set clear attitude rules- some people participate in these things and act like they are trying out for the NBA-- someone will get hurt.
20. Know how to get to the hospital and have directions available (it wouldn't hurt to give out a registration folder with different kinds of information in it about the location, just in case).
21. Get a large facility with air conditioning or good fans... really hot gyms are NO fun-- or play outside when it's nice. (if you do play outside, clearly some of the above will not be necessary).
GOOD LUCK!!!
If it is to get people recruited, etc. Rent some refs.
To advertise, for a charity, fun, etc.:
Papers, Schools (college and high school- you can get the teachers), Churches, Coffee Shops, Gyms, etc. Get sponsored!! Put the name of orgnizations on the back of the shirt that sponsor the event and get some free goodies for the snacks or some moolah for the cause.
For recruitment, etc:
Schools... clearly.

One thing that happens alot whenever I play, watch players that play down post. Alot of teams big men get called on fouls when it looks like a foul but the big men just stands there. Watch players who give faces when ref's make a call, there bound to get technical at somepoint as well as get angry and foul hard.lund boats

Imagine how many really good basketball players there are that are never discovered because of grades?
Or many other reasons imagine those who had kids to take care of that dropped out of high school. Think of all the LeBrons and Kobes that never even got to play high school basketball. Its pretty sad to me. What do you all think?Imagine how many really good basketball players there are that are never discovered because of grades?
I know where your coming from. Our school has a terrible basketball team because our great players can't get good grades. We played the actual basketball team in a pickup game and we completely destoyed them.Imagine how many really good basketball players there are that are never discovered because of grades?
there are hardly any of those kinds of people. Also you shouldn't have a kid while in high school. Exhibit more self control. I think if they blow it on their grades they shouldn't deserve to play. It is student-athlete not athlete.Imagine how many really good basketball players there are that are never discovered because of grades?
Millions
Thats where all the street players come from
What I think is weird to think about is that every single player pretty much to play in the NBA was probably the star of their high school team. I mean for how hard it is to make it in professional basketball, all of these guys were probably many steps ahead of the competition on their high school team. Of course there are a few exceptions.raw food recipes

Should future basketball players that are in their teens play pro basketball?
After we are done with high school, should we shoot to be a pro basketball player or just work any ordinary job?Should future basketball players that are in their teens play pro basketball?
You cant go into the NBA straight from high school but if you are really that good play in college while taking classes and see how it works out

Would my high school girls basketball team be in hot water if I invited a player to the Taylor Swift concert?
The girls basketball team at my high school did really well this year, making a run for the state title. I want to invite a player to attend the Taylor Swift concert in Fresno with me. Are there rules governing high school sports that make such gifts illegal? I just don't want to see a player lose her eligibility for accepting a nice gift, or the team be given sanctions (like forfeiting wins or to vacate a league title) after a very successful season.Would my high school girls basketball team be in hot water if I invited a player to the Taylor Swift concert?
Any player would be suspended for attending such a teethy - off key performance.google crome
